You can help bring a great idea into being

Someone with Oregon Environmental Council sent out this great item letting you know how YOU can help bring a most important improvement (pay-as-you-drive insurance) into being. Even better, right now it’s leading the race for funding. So please click the second link below and do your bit to help reverse the perverse incentive that makes driving a lot cheaper than driving a little.
(This says that voting ended at midnight last night, but you might want to check it out anyway just to learn more about this great idea.)
MileMeter (http://www.milemeter.com), a startup company that plans to offer pay-as-you-drive insurance, is one of 7 finalists (out of 900+ companies) in a national investment competition sponsored by Amazon. You can view a video of MileMeter and vote for which startup business will receive an investment from Amazon at
http://developer.amazonwebservices.com/connect/amazon_startupchallenge.jsp.
Voting ends at midnight this Wednesday, the 5th of December.

This is a huge chance to jumpstart PAYD insurance in the U.S. Please join me in casting a vote at Amazon.com.

George,
Thanks for the post on MileMeter! We are very appreciative of the support we received from the Oregon Environmental Council and Chris Hagerbaumer. Their advocacy helped make the difference, and we expect to be selling insurance mid-08 and expanding to Oregon very soon thereafter.
You can learn more about distance-based auto insurance and its ability to beneficially influence environmental, transportation, and social policies by visiting the CentsPerMileNow Project (sponsored by NOW). The Oregon Environmental Council also has a brief summary page, the Victoria Transport Policy Institute has a useful aggregation of distance-based pricing information, and we also provide some opinions and links on our MileMeter blog.
Sincerely,
Chris (the guy in the MileMeter video)
